1. We're the oldest girls' school in Ipoh!. The school was founded by Reverend W E Horley in 1895, the same years as he founded the Anglo-Chinese School (ACS) Ipoh.

2. We're commonly reffered as MGS

3. Cheeky friends would name our school as Monkey Girls' School or Monkey Gorilla School. 

4. Cottage was build in 1934 and used to be the residence of the principals from the early years. This is why it is now rumuored as haunted. 

5. Our sport house system was introduced in 1930 - Cavell, Nightingale, Crosby, Victoria.

( Me - Crosby or Blue. Cavell is Red, Nightingale is Yellow, Victoria is Green. Victoria selalu kalah. Cavell selalu fight dengan Crosby...hehheheh)

6. The school was closed down in 1941 for the Japanese Army. It was later re-opened in 1945 Oct 1st.

7. We're one of the school in Ipoh that wore pinafore according to our school official colour instead of the usual light blue. Maroon was our school colour. The uniform was later standardize to follow the light blue ones around 1970s.(No more maroon for the later generation)

**but the pengawas is still wearing maroon skirt hehhhehe (during my time 1982 - 1986)

8. Our canteen is like a mini food court. Ice creams, roti canai, nasi lemak, laksa, porridge, wan tan mee, chee cheong fun, nasi ayam, thosai, curry mee, tomyam noodles, fruits, mash potatoes, snacks, kacang puteh, roti bakar, even variety off thes. Of food heaven!

9. Student from 80s era would still see Mak Cik Yam our legendary canteen aunty if the re-visit the alma matter.

10. Our school canteen food is cheap! One cup of soya which is the same size as kopitiams, cost only 30 cents. Laksa for 1 ringgit.

11. Our school song is the same for both Primary and Secondary school. Only the last paragraph is removed for the secondary school. 

12. "Leave the banner, Wear it onwards" is what usually some students would sing instead of the right one "Lift the banner, Bear it onwards". Are you one of them?

13. Our school song would gradually be sung faster and faster if there isn't any music companion (Naught girls)

14. Our landmark that represents our school would definitely ve the RAINTREE that has stood for almost a century.

15. For those who joined Girls' Brigade, students for non-Methodist school would had trouble understanding what Uniform Body you've joined since it is only available in 3 schools in Ipoh. ACS, MGS and Wesley.

16. The best food we crave during sports day would be the curry fish balls!

17. We would cheer, laugh and scream hard if males teachers were choosed for certain events on stage. 

18. Our Monday assembly are at the badminton court with teachers sitting in a row along the classrom's corridor. You would see some sleeping if you look around.

19. Our school badge colour is simple which consist of only two colours. Maroon and White. 

20. We're the only school that doesn't need the cloth tag that needs to be ironed to the uniforms. We use name tags.

21. We're lucky to have a big green field.

22. Non-muslims students would sometimes to to the opposite Curry Mee shop to eat after school

23. We have kebun  angkat project but always don't attend. 

24. We share the school area between primary and secondary. So seeing sights of little primary girls running around our compound is completely normal. We sometimes even make friends with them. 

25. Racial isn't much of an issue here. We all mix together for 5 years (or more if you're from the same primary). This is one good thing. We learn about each other's culture and we know how to respect them.

26. Our school students are always well recognized for good English!. Be proud. OUR UTMOST FOR THE HIGHEST!.

Recently we made a trip to Ipoh to reminisce our moment while studying at MGS. We spent the time together for 2 days 1 night at one of the homestay in Ipoh (mini reunion gituk). But too bad, I was not in the picture, sbb kena balik KL awal..hehhehe...but a few of my friends got a chance to visit our old school. How I miss our 5 years at MGS.

MGS Reunion...

3 November 2013

Gambar ni sebenarnyer dah lama....tak sempat nak upload. Ni kira reunion yang entah ke berapa tak tau ler....ramai kengkawan akak masa zaman sekolah sekolah yang belom lagi dapat di temui..kalau di temui pun, tak sempat lagi bertemu. Ni geng masa sekolah menengah. 

Lama sungguh tak jumpa kawan akak yang sorang ni...Anis. Skrang dah jadi doktor gigi. Pada masa yang sama Anis juga mengajar di UITM Shah Alam, bidang dentistry. Masa ni bercuti selama 6 bulan. Bulan Februari 2013 nanti, akan pergi ke New Zealand semula untuk sambung belajar. Alhamdulillah...sorang lagi kawan akak yang berjaya. Seronok dengar citer kengkawan yang berjaya belaka.  Pertemuan kali ni cuma di sertai orang 6 orang saja. Akak, Anis, Ida, Norida, Iza dan Hajar bertempat di kampus UITM. (Lupa nama rumah persinggahan kawan akak tu..hahahhahaha). Yang lain memasing kesibukan dan tak sempat untuk datang. 

Walaupun 6 orang, tapi meriah siot...ahahaha...Di sebabkan kita orang buat potluck, memacam makanan yang ada. Walhal  6 orang jer..hahah. Gambar gambar tu semua takde dalam kamera akak. Yang ada, ni la sekeping...Tp takper...janji buat kenangan. 

Bila dah berjumpa, gembira tak terkata. Berbagai bagai cerita yang keluar. Ooo..indahnyer kenangan..hahhaha.....



Lama juga kami meluangkan masa di rumah Anis.  Sebelum balik...sempat juga bisik bisik pada Anis.....Erk...nnt anis dah ada kat NZ, bolehler kami datang yer...accommodation free...tourist guide pun free..ehhehehe....NZ..here we come....tp bila ler tu gamaknyer...hahhaha

MGS - Part II

Dah setel semua kami pun meneruskan perjalanan ke Ipoh. Sampai di Ipoh, Suraya meminta kami menunggu di Stesen Petronas Tanjung Rambutan sbb kami tak tau mcamaner nak pergi ker Homestay yg kami sewa.

Sekejapan jer, dia sampai. Sesampai saja di homestay, di situ dah ada ana, zirah, faiz, dijah...hahaha...bila berjumpa saja, mcm nak roboh rumah.  Kecoh, riuh rendah.......jadi, biarlah gambar saja yang menceritakan keadaannya...hehehehe














Bergotong royong......siapkan utk makan tengahari..




Punya seronok bersembang..sampai pejam2 mata..

Byk lagi gambar...tp tula..ramai yg dah bukak aurat..wakkaaka. It was a wonderful event. Mmg happening sungguh. Seronok jumpa kengkawan yang dah berpuluh puluh tahun tak jumpa. Segala cerita dan kenangan pahit manis semasa di sekolah, di imbau kembali.

Lebih kurang jam 6 petang, akak berangkat pulang semula ke Kuala Lumpur. Menumpang kawan gakk..hheehe..segan akak naik keter BMW orang...ye lah, sbb dah biasa naik keter cabuk ajer..hahahaa...Mekasih to Norida sbb tumpangkan aku balik ke KL. Kalau tak, tak merasa nak berjumpa jumpaan dengan kalian. Dan terimakasih pada Hajar, sbb tolong bawakan aku ke Ipoh. Klu tak, mmg tak merasa jumpa yg lain.....

Terimakasih pada yang dapat hadir. Roziana, Jaliah, Nurzarina, Zaa Hajar, Noor Asnida, Khadijah, Norol, Surayah, Rosmawati, Norida, Faizah, Fazirah, Nor Hasni, Nor Hashimah & me.



MGS - Part I

Selepas 26 tahun sejak 1986 lagi.............

Assalammualaikum...

Sebenarnya perancangan untuk berjumpa dengan kawan kawan semasa berada di bangku sekolah ini sudah lama. Tapi asik lah tertunda tunda. Infact, akak pun takleh nak memberikan jawapan samada boleh pergi ke idak hingga lah ke saat terakhir. Sebabnya, bermula dari 15 September, boleh dikatakan every weekend, ada aja urusan yang kena buat. Jadi, bila tarikh 14 Oktober 2012 dipilih, mula lah hati berbelah bahagi..adoiyaaa..nak pegi ke idak. Nak pegi ke idak.

Pikir punya pikir, redah ajelah. Akak amat berterimakasih sesangat kepada rakan sebaya, Hajar, atas segala usaha penat lelah cuba menggabungkan rakan rakan seperjuangan untuk berkumpul bersama sama.

Tanggal 14hb Oktober, 2012, setelah berjanji, kami berkumpul di Kepong Sentral. Hanya 5 orang jer dari KL ni. (Akak, Haja, Shima, Ros dan Ida). Yang selebihnya dari Ipoh.

Seawal 8.30 pagi, kami memulakan perjalanan. Tiba di R&R Tapah, kami berhenti, kerana anak Ida nak buang air kecil. Setiba saja di R&R Tapah, ada orang tegur. Dik...tayar keter pancit...Hah????...Semua keluar keter..aduhai. Mmg betul pancit. Memasing dah ngelabah. Almaklum, all ladies inside..yg ada pun budak kecik (anak Ida)...hahaha..Mana tau nak tukar tayar keter. And we started calling here and there. Mujur alhamdulillah, Hasni & family kebetulan berada di belakang. Kami memintanya berhenti di R&R Tapah.

Notakaki:  Akak dulu bersekolah menengah di Sekolah Menengah (K) Perempuan Methodis, Jalan Kampar, Ipoh Perak atau lebih di kenali Methodist Girls School. Kami tinggal di asrama bermula tahun 1982 - 1986. Rakan rakan yang di hadir di perjumpaan ini hanyalah rakan rakan asrama sahaja.

After 26 years.........

Tak sangka.....tarikh 1 May 2012 berjumpa ngan beberapa kengkawan masa sekolah. Kali terakhir berjumpa lepas SPM in 1986. After that, tak penah jumpa lagi.  Maybe there are a few yg penah jumpa..tu pun ntah kurun bila....so happy. And really missed all the happy moment we had together..bila dah jumpa, mcm mcm citer kuar..kekekkeke....

Baru sampai, muka excited memasing....

Comei jer mak mak mak orang ni..kihkihkihkih...

Kusyuk Rozi mendengar citer Suria Zaa....ko dengar ler temberang dia tu..
